Nearly 300 supply chain and purchasing executives converged yesterday on the National Restaurant Association’s Supply Chain Management Conference in Orlando, Fla.

The sold-out, biannual event, held Oct. 23-24, gave foodservice industry professionals a forum to talk about pressing issues, including the latest policy and legislative happenings, changes in commodity pricing and purchasing strategies, food supply safety, and the challenges and advantages related to blockchain and traceability technology.

Author and motivational speaker Simon T. Bailey keynoted the conference. Bailey told the audience that the way the industry conducts business is changing at light speed and that executives must let go of their comfortable, old leadership skills to embrace collaborative problem solving, new technology and methodologies to survive and thrive.
